Glitteracy
Through books, we all shine.
Glitteracy is a service initiative founded by Gwendolyn “Gwen” Franssen to help children build confidence, self-esteem, and a sense of belonging through books and stories.
After growing up with alopecia universalis, Gwen learned firsthand how important it is for children to feel seen, understood, and celebrated. Through Glitteracy, she hopes to share that same encouragement with others by promoting positive representation and creating joyful experiences centered around reading.
Glitteracy partners with schools, libraries, festivals, and community organizations to provide books, host book drives, and encourage children to discover the power of stories.

Why Books?
Books do more than teach us how to read. They help us understand ourselves, connect with others, and imagine new possibilities. In a digital world, stories still have the power to spark curiosity, build empathy, and remind every child that their voice matters.
Meet Gwen
Glitteracy began with Gwen's belief that every child deserves to see themselves reflected in stories and to know that they shine exactly as they are. Learn more about Gwen's story and follow her journey on Instagram @thebaldbeautyqueen.
