Helping Families Raise Confident, Resilient Kids with Differences

When a child has a visible or invisible difference — whether it’s alopecia, a medical condition, or another unique challenge — parents face a special kind of stress. You want your child to feel confident, navigate social situations with strength, and own their story, but it’s not always clear how to make that happen.

That’s where we come in.

My Approach

As a neuroscientist, educator, and parent, I understand the complex blend of emotions, decisions, and advocacy that comes with raising a child who stands out in some way. Through Franssen Strategies, I offer neuroscience-informed coaching to help families:

  • Reduce stress around school and social situations

  • Support a child’s confidence and self-advocacy skills

  • Navigate conversations with peers, teachers, and community members

  • Build resilience together as a family

Who This Is For

This program is for parents, grandparents, or guardians of kids with:

  • Visible differences like alopecia, birthmarks, scoliosis, or medical devices

  • Invisible differences like autoimmune disorders, chronic illness, or neurodivergence

  • Family histories with health conditions that affect identity or confidence

How We Work Together

  • Private video calls with tailored strategies for your child and family

  • Connect with other parents who understand your challenges

  • Guidance for collaborating with teachers, counselors, and administrators

  • Additional support options exist, including interactive resources and workbook pages, on-site visits and workshops, and so much more.

Advocacy in Action

Our work with families ties directly into the youth advocacy initiatives we sponsor — including Gwen’s alopecia awareness work and the Awareness Club’s school-based education programs. Parents who participate often become part of this broader mission, helping to expand awareness and support for kids everywhere.
